11:21 am: From Mark Millar, creator of _Wanted_ openining this Friday:
"Wanted 2 already being planned and they've asked me how I can develop some of the other stuff from the book into the sequel. We'll see what box office is like at the weekend, but everyone knows this is going to make a LOT of dough…Wall-E permitting. Fucking bastard of a wee robot."

03:36 pm: More movie
Now, not only is the movie done, but it opens on Friday, and I've seen it... 5 times so far, I think. I like it better with each showing. It might well be the best we've done. A notoriously tough Pixar critic friend of mine from PDI/Dreamworks came up to see it today and was completely blown away by it. Yay!

03:42 pm: Bloggers and blog commentors have been reveling of late in the news that Paris Hilton is in jail, is suddenly out of jail, is now back in jail, etc. The latest batch of glee revolves around pictures of an obviously distraught Paris in tears in the back of a police car. Most of the comments I've been reading include either/or/and the words 'bitch' and 'whore' while delighting in the fact that she's going to spend time behind bars and now, moreso, that she's completely bent over the situation.

She's a human being, and she's in pain. She has never directly impacted the lives of anyone whose comments on the situation I've read. She's been convicted of a crime and will, per the law, pay her debt to society. How is this not enough for people? How is it that people can delight in this? Why are people cheering over the fact that this woman is terrified and weeping? What's the matter with society that this is acceptable behaviour?

Disney was recently in the news for barring same-sex couples from their "fairy tale wedding" scenario. That policy has apparently just been reversed. :)

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A study finds immigrants to the United States have a significantly lower crime rate than those born in the country.

Ruben Rumbaut, a sociologist at the University of California at Irvine, and Walter Ewing of Harvard used figures from the 2000 census. He found that 3.5 percent of U.S.-born men aged 18 to 39 were behind bars in 2000, five times the rate for foreign-born men, The Orange County Register reported.
